The Pantoffel [Pan-tóf-fel] is a slipper designed to be worn indoors.
First used in the Orient richly decorated by embroideries and stamped gildings, the Bazantine empire brought the Pantoffel to Italy, where it spread to the rest of Europe during the 15th century.
The name Pantoffel as we know it today started being used at the beginning of the 1900’s and is taken from the french word for house shoe pantoufle.
